In order to send a confirmation e-mail to the e-mail address of the person who has completed the survey, a Send e-mail element can be included at the end of the respective survey. Using this element, an e-mail will be sent from the survey, as soon as a survey participant has arrived at this element in the survey.
If you invite a sample to participate in a survey, each sample member will receive an invitation in his/her mailbox. After any sample member has answered the corresponding survey (with such a Send e-mail element), an email message will be sent to the email address specified at the placeholder {{member.Email}} in the To: field. This is the address listed for the corresponding sample member in the Email field of the sample (under System Fields).
However, if you do not use a sample, you can insert an E-mail element at the beginning of the survey asking for the e-mail address of the survey participant. This is the e-mail address to which the confirmation will be sent. The corresponding response data type is: Email.
After adding all the questions to be answered by the participants to the survey, you can include a Send e-mail element in the survey at the end.
BUT this time, you include the placeholder {{q1}} at the To: field in this element. This refers to the question code of the previously mentioned E-mail element. When sending the confirmation to the corresponding participant, the e-mail address entered at question q1 will then be retrieved.
Note: In order to ensure an optimal performance, curly braces should be provided in the ‘To’ field.
