Use the general table settings to control which data a table displays and which features are available in the dashboard. The settings apply to raw data tables and pivot tables.
In this video we will talk about the general settings that are available for all table types – The Raw Data Table & the Pivot table.
Open the table settings

- Open the Tables page.
- Select a table.
- Adjust the settings in the sidebar.
Table name
Give the table a clear and unique name.
The table name appears wherever you use the table, including on report pages.
Table filter (Add filter)
Use Table filter to control which data is included in the table and its calculations.
For example, you can filter a raw data table to include only responses where question 1 choice = 1.
Remove the filter to include all data again.
Add filter and Enable Filtering have different functions. Add filter limits the data included in the table. Enable Filtering allows dashboard viewers to filter individual columns by values visible in table.
Paging
Paging divides a table into multiple pages.
Paging is enabled by default for raw data tables. It prevents too many rows from appearing at once and reduces the amount of space the table uses. This is especially useful for raw data tables.
Disable Paging if you want to display all rows in one longer table.
Enable Filtering
Enable Filtering allows dashboard viewers to filter individual columns directly in the table.
When it’s enabled, viewers can select the filter icon for a column, choose one or more available values, and change or remove the filter when needed.
Sorting
Enable Sorting allows dashboard viewers to sort the table by individual columns.
To define how the table is sorted when it first opens, use Sort table by in the Columns area.
Column selection
Column selection allows dashboard viewers to add or remove visible columns.
Viewers can only select columns that are already defined for the table. They cannot add variables that are not part of the table.
Use this setting to provide additional information without displaying every column by default.
Search field
The Search field allows dashboard viewers to search the entire table.
The search checks all columns at the same time and highlights matching results. This is especially useful for long tables.
Excel export
The Excel export allows dashboard viewers to download the table as an Excel file. The export reflects the table as shown, including any active filters or paging.
Group rows by column value
Group rows by column value allows viewers to group rows based on the values in a selected column.
For example, you can group a table by question 1 choice = 1. Rows with the same value are then displayed together.
Viewers can expand or collapse the groups. This makes longer tables easier to navigate.
