Create a pivot table with Table wizard
The Table wizard is recommended for most standard use cases. It guides you through four configuration steps to create a table. You can create a table with Table Wizard and then refine its configuration using the settings sidebar.
To start, open the Table wizard. Go to Tables, open Add content, and select Table wizard. The wizard consists of four steps: Filter, Segments, Questions, and Summary.
Step 1: In Filters define which interview data to include in the tables. You can combine conditions based on questions, sample or panel data, URL variables, interview data, and custom variables. Skip this step if you want to use all available data.

Step 2: In Segmentation, choose how to divide the results into sub-segments. Select Custom segments, Variable based segmentation, or Time based segmentation. You can also continue without segmentation if you want to display an overall result.

Step 3: In Questions, select the questions for which you want to create tables. Depending on the question and analysis, select the required aggregators, such as count or mean.

Step 4: In Summary, check the table preview and go back if you need to change any settings. Click Create tables to add the tables to your report.

You can then rename the table, adjust its settings, or use it as a data source for a chart.

Create a pivot table with Add content menu
The example below shows how to create a pivot table directly from question variables available under Add content.
1. Go to Tables and click Add content.
2. Under Tables, select Pivot table.

3. Click Add content again to open the list of available variables.
4. Under Question variables, drag the variable you want to analyze into the empty pivot table or just click it. For this example we’re choosing Age.

5. In the Add rows to pivot table dialog.

- Select Yes to add one row for each variable value.
- Select Yes to add data aggregation columns.
- Select the aggregations you want to display.

- Click Add rows.
Survalyzer creates the table with one row for each answer option and the selected aggregation columns.

Tip: This is a great way to create one table for multiple questions, for example, to compare mean values across various survey questions in a single table.
Create a simple pivot table
The Simple pivot table uses a simplified setup to create basic tables from selected variables.
In the example below we create a Simple Pivot Table: Breakdown of CES Responses by Age Group in under a minute in just three steps.

There are three steps to achieve it:
Step 1: Select Count aggregator.

Step 2: Set up the table segmentation by CES variable.

Step 3: Add a row by dragging the Age variable from the available content and dropping it onto the row area.

That’s it! Your table shows CES responses broken down by age group.

Create a pivot table from scratch with sidebar table settings
Although you can build a Pivot Table from scratch using the sidebar settings, for most use cases we recommend creating the table with the Table Wizard first. For more advanced configurations, create the initial table with the Table Wizard, and then refine its columns, rows, calculations, segmentation, and filters using the Sidebar Table Settings.
Step 1: In the Add content menu, select pivot table.

Step 2: Define general settings.

Step 3: Use table sidebar settings to create a table structure.
- Add columns.

- Add rows.

Step 4: Define columns and rows settings
1. Calculations
Choose base variables, calculated elements and aggregators.
2. Segmentation
Break down data by variables, time, or custom conditions at table, row, or column levels. You can add all rows at once by using the segmentation.
3. Filtering and Conditions
Apply additive filters to specific rows, columns, or the entire table.
