When programming a survey, you create a questionnaire in which you can include a varied number of questions and corresponding answers. When you have completed this questionnaire, you can test the result. You are recommended to do this to rectify any errors in the questionnaire or to supplement the questionnaire with any missing question elements. After you have tested the survey, you can activate it.
Testing survey
To test a survey, you can for instance use a test sample in which you can include 4 participants (some colleagues and yourself). Click here for a description of the Add new local sample procedure.
You can then invite this test sample to fill in the test survey. After all members of the test sample have filled out the survey, the number of answers of the surveys completed by its members (e.g. 1) is indicated in the survey overview. The status of this survey is now set to Off.
On the Analyze page, you can view the number of completed test interviews under the Response statistics. To view the interview mode of the survey, you can download the raw data in an Excel file (only all completed test interviews). To do this, you must click on the Download raw data button. When this Excel file has been generated, it will be placed at the bottom left of the screen.
When opening this Excel file, you will find the value Test in the Interview Mode column for all records (1 record per sample member).
Note: During the test phase, the Multiple participation - Allowed for survey link and personal links
setting is disregarded.
Note 2: If you reload the survey during the test phase (e.g. with <F5> or the Reload this page
icon), you will automatically jump back to the beginning of the survey allowing you to start again from scratch.
Activating survey
After you have checked and adapted the survey based on the answers provided, and you want, for instance, to submit it to a sample with a larger number of participants, you will have to activate the survey. After having clicked the Activate survey button (on the Build page), the answers provided by the participants of the test sample will be deleted. The number of completed surveys in the survey overview will be reset to 0.
Now you can send the invitation to fill in the survey to the actual sample. After all members of this sample have filled out the activated survey, the survey overview displays the total number of answers of all sample members who have completed the survey entirely. The status of this survey is now set to On.
Once again, you can view the number of completed production interviews on the Analyze page under the Response statistics. This number will generally be much higher than the number in the test sample. To view the interview mode of the survey, you can download the raw data in an Excel file (only all completed production interviews). To do this, you must click on the Download raw data button. When this Excel file has been generated, it will be placed at the bottom left of the screen.
When opening this Excel file, you will find the value Prod in the Interview Mode column for all records (1 record per sample member).
